Sunday 25th Movember – Ten10 outreach drive

About 13 vehicles lined up at Franschhoek Motor Museum where we had coffee, muffins and a quick tour of the exhibits. Therafter we loaded invited guests who are or have been strugling with cancer, and we drove over Franschhoek Pass, via Villiersdorp, Caledon and Kleinmond, where we had a great and well organised lunch at the Sandown Blues Restaurant. Thereafter we drove via Rooiels, Gordon’s Bay, up the pass to Grabouw, and back over the Franschhoek pass to the museum. All in all I did 409kms from my house, but it was good to meet the hero’s who have struggled with their burden, and to have their minds in a different place for just a few hours. There was only one Cobra, hence the picture of that one!

Sunday 11th Movember – Breakfast and drive from Hout Bay

Dunes Beach Restaurant in Hout Bay was the meeting point of 8 Cobra’s for the breakfast preceeding the drive. Dunes offered a superb breakfast and even made sure we had reserved parking in front of the restaurant. Great menu selection and very good service from the Dunes team – well done, we will make this an annual event! After a very slow start up Chappies behind tour busses and cyclists galore, 5 of us had a pleasant drive down towards Cape Point and back over Red Hill. (Picture courtesy of Gerhard)

Sunday 28th October – Bikers For Bandanas – Ysterplaat

Ok, we are not bikers, but we did participate in the Sunflower Fund’s charity drive, where we each drove a survivor on a short drive up the West Coast before turning back to the Air Force base. There were hundred’s of bikes and 9 Cobra’s in the sunshine. The Air Force museum guys also started up the Shackleton which was quite interesting. Brought back quite a few memories for some of us who were there.

Saturday 6th October – Whales & Wheels – Hermanus

This year’s Whales and Wheels show in Hermanus seemed to me to be far less attended by all car clubs, with some clubs not even represented by a single car (notice all the grass in the picture below!). We had 4 Cobra’s out, all who drove up for the day. Possibly the best part was the convoy drive over the pass. We all missed Pierre, who was checking out Baviaanskloof.

Sunday 30th September – Lunch at Boshimela – Rawsonville

Sadly only 3 Cobra’s ventured out into glorious sunshine, over Du Toit’s Kloof to Boshimela, just opposite Goudini Spa. We had a fantastic plate of egte boere kos sitting under beautiful oak trees, drinki wines from local wineries. Where are all the other Cobra’s?

Sunday 29th July – Live to Race – Killarney

Only 4 Cobras attended the event today, along with not many other cars, so the approximately 70 guests kept us busy – lots of track time! The weather was brilliant and all enjoyed the day.

Sunday 4th March – Suikerbossie breakfast and drive

10 Cobras ventured out on probably the first day of predicted rain since Christmas, but we managed to dodge all the clouds and not one drop fell on the beasts. The short drive through Sea Point was delayed by big walks and slow Sunday drivers, but the breakfast at Suikerbossie made up for it. Thereafter most of us took a drive down south via Chappies and Cape Point.

Sunday 5th February – Cape South Easter Historic racing – Killarney

We had 6 Cobras on the Sunday of the two day historic racing event at Killarney. Unfortunately there was poor response to the concourse event from other clubs, so all 6 Cobra were displayed.

Saturday 21st January – Timour Hall – Plumstead

The Cobra’s were given a much better spot this year in our own courtyard away from the greasy hamburger stalls! 11 Cobras were on Display.
