PREVIOUS EVENTS – 2013
Sunday 24th November – Chaeli Campaign Peninsular Tour
After another hectic run around to scrape 6 Cobra’s together for the tour of the peninsular, we had an absolute fantastic drive in 33 degree sunshine with some very grateful guests. Protea Hotel Victoria Junction spoilt us again with a superb 3 course meal after the drive. Thanks especially to Robbie who came to the rescue in his Mustang.
Sunday 3rd November – Parow Car Show
A relatively good showing of Cobras attended the Parow Car Show on a superb summer day with a gentle breeze keeping us cool on an otherwise warm day. The 13 Cobras were probably the most single car type of all the car clubs. There were quite a few gaps on the field, yet there seemed to be greater public numbers.
Saturday 21st September – Whales & Wheels, Hermanus
Unfortunately the rain kept all but one local Cobra away from the Hermanus Whales and Wheels show, even though it did not rain at all on the day.
Sunday 19th May – Carroll Shelby Tribute drive
We could not have asked for better weather as 16 Cobras and a GT40 took part in a drive in memory of the father of the Cobra, amongst other cars. After meeting in Rondebosch, half of the group proceeded down the N2 and met up with the rest of the group in Somerset West. From there we drove over Sir Lowry’s pass, via Grabouw, Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and ended up at the Root 44 market, who had kindly reserved special parking, allowing us to browse the many food, drink and craft stalls while still keeping an eye on the cars.
Sunday 3rd March – Chaeli Campaign Peninsular Tour
Sometimes it is better to hear what the customer has to say – in this case two of the winners of the auction prize where 6 Cobra’s and a GT40 drove the passengers around the Cape in spectacular weather –
We would like to thank the Cape Cobra Club and the Chaeli Campaign for the wonderful opportunity we had yesterday, to cruz the Peninsula in your beautiful cars!! It was truly a day to remember! Thank you very much!! Regards, Nadene Crause
I would like to send you and all the drivers’ personal thanks for allowing me to join you on the drive, and for making a petrol head such as myself really appreciate a true classic that is the Shelby Cobra. Original or Replica, the experience I have had was truly amazing.(Matthew Paulse.)
Saturday 19th Jan – Timour Hall Classic Car Show
It was a spectacular start to 2013, with 13 Cobra’s attending the Classic Car Show at Timour Hall in Plumstead. We also had Tarren & Bronwyn’s chassis in attendance, which attracted more attention than the completed Cobra’s. Really not fair, but I think it was all the guys just chatting to Bronwyn, who was not stumped by any questions asked of her regarding the part build – well done Bronwyn, and also to Tarren for bringing the car there. Yes, that is even the TV crew interviewing Bronwyn! General spectator volumes were good on the glorious day, and we all had a great time.
