Saturday 21st  January – Timour Hall show

We had a reasonable turnout for the IPA show at Timour hall, with 11 Cobras in the courtyard – leaving room for at least 4 more! Unfortunately it appears that many other clubs were also not as well supported, so there were many gaps on a lot of the fields. There were quite a few spectators on the very warm day, but their numbers also looked lower than previous years.

Sunday 5th Feb – Chaeli Campaign Peninsular drive & lunch

Today was perfect weather for 6 Cobras to drive the Acker family and friends around the peninsular, albeit such a great day that every runner, cyclist, and tour bus were also out on the roads! The Protea/Marriott hotel put on a superb complimentary lunch which was enjoyed by all.

Sunday 12th Feb – Riebeeck Kasteel breakfast run

Superb weather greeted us for the pleasant drive to Riebeeck Kasteel via Wellington and Hermon. The relaxed breakfast was enjoyed by the drivers and passengers of 10 Cobras. The route back via Malmesbury was sadly interrupted by the breakdown of Peter’s Cobra – two shattered pistons blowing the block apart!

Sunday 23rd April – Greyton brunch drive

It was a perfect Cobra driving day as we set out on the N2 toward Greyton for Brunch.  The group was 8 Cobras strong and grabbing a lot of spectator attention along the way.  Brunch stop was relaxing in Greyton.  After brunch we headed back via Theewaterskloof Dam (to see the low level), Villierdorp (fuel pitstop) and the spectacular Franchoek pass.  Some of the group stopped in Franchoek for hydration before heading home.  In summary it was a very pleasant trip to a destination we don’t often to get to.

Sunday 3rd December – Franschhoek drive

Franschhoek 2017-12-02

It never rains, but it pours! After another terrible dry spell in Cape Town we were blessed with some awesome rain so desperately needed in the Cape, but why on the same morning we had potentially close to 30 Cobras ready to take to the streets?

Nevertheless, 8 brave Cobra and 1 GT40 drivers joined up with many members in tin tops on a shortened drive to Franschhoek and back. The weather was OK until the N1 Winelands Engen where it started to rain during our meeting of the southern and northern groups. It rained solidly all the way to Franschhoek, and some of the time while we had lunch at the Station Pub. I think the picture above, thanks to Bronwyn, sums up the weather conditions very well! The drive home was thankfully dry.

We had a great turnout, and the social interaction made up for the wet start.

Thanks to all who made it, and to Heidi for arranging it.
